Issue #1; Season kicks off
Shanghai Masters commences this week
The very first issue of Snooker Weekly! A newsletter that cherry-picks the most remarkable news, social media posts, and other noteworthy items in the world of snooker.
While this season has already kicked off with the ranking event Champions League, won by Ali Carter before the summer even started, most snooker fans will probably start tuning in when the Shanghai Masters begins — unless they are sunbathing on a tropical island somewhere.
Ronnie O’Sullivan has won the last four Shanghai Masters, making him one of the favourites again this year. Let’s see what the weeks bring.
📰 Break off news
Michael White is banned from snooker after receiving a three-year jail sentence. Awful and depressing news, and especially strange since he was playing in the Champions League only a few weeks ago.
More news from the court: the Just Stop Oil protester who covered a snooker table with orange powder at the Crucible a year ago is sentenced has been given a 18-month community order.

Ali Carter thinks Ronnie wants to kill him based on the way he looks at him. The drama between those two is getting a bit old, to be fair.
Ronnie O’Sullivan has the king of the grand slams, Novak Djokovic, as a fan. I wonder how many other snooker players Novak can name, though.
📱 Chalk talk
Kyron Wilson has uploaded a video with a bunch of #nolooks. Impressive, to say the least.
Selby’s new suit is ready (no idea what I am watching).
Mark Williams makes a 147 break in an exhibition match in Wales.
Stephen Hendry strolling around in China.
